Climate Policy Dialogue and Youth Innovation Forum with Kathmandu University

Kathmandu University, Nepal October 2026 | Ongoing preparation and engagement

Project Overview

Climate Action Nepal is convening a policy dialogue and youth innovation forum with Kathmandu University to connect research, public policy and community experience. The platform is designed to showcase practical solutions, amplify youth leadership and strengthen collaboration on resilience, DRR, circular economy and sustainable development.

Why This Project Matters

Promising youth ideas and community innovations often remain disconnected from policy processes, technical institutions and potential partners. Nepal needs stronger spaces where evidence, lived experience and new solutions can be discussed across sectors.

What the Project Is Doing

  • Organizing a multi-stakeholder dialogue on climate resilience and sustainable development.
  • Facilitating panels involving academia, government, youth and practitioners.
  • Showcasing youth-led innovations, research and community initiatives.
  • Conducting knowledge-sharing sessions on DRR, adaptation, circular economy and green livelihoods.
  • Creating structured networking opportunities for institutions and emerging climate leaders.
  • Documenting key messages, practical recommendations and opportunities for follow-up collaboration.

Expected Results and Ongoing Contribution

  • Stronger dialogue among researchers, policymakers, youth and community practitioners.
  • Greater visibility and recognition for youth-led climate innovation.
  • Improved knowledge exchange between academia and locally implemented climate action.
  • New institutional relationships and opportunities for joint initiatives.
  • Practical recommendations that can inform future climate programmes and policy discussions.

Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Focus

  • Number and diversity of participating institutions and stakeholders.
  • Youth innovations, research products and community solutions presented.
  • Quality of policy-practice dialogue and recommendations generated.
  • Partnership or follow-up opportunities identified after the forum.
  • Communication products and wider outreach generated from the event.

Long-term Value

The forum creates a bridge between ideas and implementation, enabling young people and community practitioners to contribute directly to Nepal's climate and sustainability discourse.
