Project Overview

This project is developing a localized pathway for integrating climate change and Disaster Risk Reduction into school education. It combines curriculum design, teacher preparation, hazard mapping and municipal coordination so climate learning becomes a sustained part of school systems rather than a one-time activity.

Why This Project Matters

Climate and disaster topics are often taught in fragmented or generic ways that do not reflect local hazards, languages, livelihoods or preparedness needs. Teachers also need practical resources and institutional support to turn climate knowledge into age-appropriate learning and action.

What the Project Is Doing

  • Assessing existing climate and DRR knowledge gaps in participating schools.
  • Developing localized, age-appropriate curriculum modules through participatory workshops.
  • Training teachers and school management committees to use the modules.
  • Conducting school hazard mapping and preparedness activities.
  • Coordinating with municipal and education authorities on integration and ownership.
